Snarky Puppy

Snarky Puppy is a Brooklyn-based “…fusion-influenced jam band…” led by bassist, composer, and producer Michael League. Snarky Puppy combines jazz, rock, and funk and has won three Grammy Awards.

The band was formed by Michael League in Denton, Texas, in 2004 and comprises about 40 players who perform on guitar, bass, keyboards, woodwinds, brass, strings, drums, and percussion. Individual members have performed with Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, Justin Timberlake, Kirk Franklin, Ari Hoenig, Roy Hargrove, David Crosby, Snoop Dogg, and others.

Snarky Puppy, with vocalist Lalah Hathaway, won a 2013 Grammy Award in the Best R&B Performance category for their rendition of the Brenda Russell song “Something” from Family Dinner – Volume 1 which is included in this playlist along with tracks from: The World Is Getting Smaller [2007]; Tell Your Friends [2010]; We Like It Here [2014]; Family Dinner – Volume 2 [2016]; Culcha Vulcha [2017 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album]; Immigrance [2019]; plus live tracks from both a 2015 world tour and a performance at the 2019 JazzFest in Lviv, Ukraine.
